Experience a natural jungle indoors! The Aviary opened its wings in May, 2003 to showcase species of birds in recreations of their natural habitats. Over 300 tropical birds from such places as South America, Africa and Australia are in exhibits or free-flying around this tropical oasis of exotic plants, palm trees and moss covered vines. within walking distance from the falls.
The indoor aviary is the largest in the country. Formerly home to the Niagara Falls museum, a $15 million renovation transformed the historical property into a beautiful glass domed paradise where docile, beautiful species will drink nectar from your hand.
Butterfly Conservatory
Not far from the jungles of the Aviary awaits a warm, moist rainforest recreation that is home to thousands of live butterflies. Each is living, magical work of nature as its iridescent wings shimmer in the light that funnels in from the tropical canopy.
The conservatory is home to over 50 species of butterflies from around the world. The largest butterfly conservatory in Canada, you can walk around in their habitat, and view new butterflies emerging from their chrysalides in a special emergence area.
