Our Favourite Cabbagetown Attractions
Riverdale Farm Riverdale Farm is one of Toronto's special treasures that is sure to be a fun visit for out door lovers of all ages. A short beautiful walk through Cabbagetown, the farm is an ideal attraction loved by our guests at Banting House Inn .

Certainly the most unique draw of the farm are the collection of animals for you to interact with and enjoy both outside and in several buildings. Cows, horses, donkey, sheep, goats, pigs, chickens, turkeys, ducks, geese, rabbits, and cats may be seen along the way in barns and outdoor paddocks as you stroll the grounds.

Allan Gardens- At the end of Homewood Avenue, a short walk from our downtown guest house spanning blocks between Carlton, Shuter, Gerard and Jarvis, is Allan Gardens. Century old trees and plants await in this 12 acre Toronto Park loaded with extras.

In 1858 George William Allan, an outstanding figure in Toronto, gave a 5 acre piece of land to the Toronto Horticultural Society under the condition that the land be used for the city’s future botanical gardens.

A few years later the City of Toronto purchased surrounding land from Allan, leasing it to the Horticultural Society under the condition that the entire park be free of charge and accessible by the public.

Toronto grew over the years and so did the park. Gas lights were changed to electric, new plants and buildings were added. Though fire destroyed the original conservatory and buildings in 1902, that lead to the construction of the McCallum Palm House in 1909 which is still standing today.

Cabbagetown Home Self Walking Tour- Scattered around the blocks that comprise Old Cabbagetown are hefty remnants of a time that was. A self guided map tour and marked descriptions of Victorian Homes built in the 1800s and early 1900s is a wonderful way to get a feel for the neighbourhood, and some exercise at the same time! We have the maps available in our bed and breakfast lobby.
